ABC Doors, in partnership with its sister company, Teckentrup, worked on the high-rise housing project in New Victoria, Manchester for leading construction company Vinci and Muse Developments. The project is a fantastic example of the capabilities of the ABC/Teckentrup partnership, demonstrating the combined expertise of both companies - compliant and certified Teckentrup product, perfectly married with ABC’s compliant and certified installation capabilities.
The new residential development comprised of 520 homes across two multi-storey buildings in the heart of Manchester city centre. The project required a large quantity of 60-minute steel fire doors to meet the necessary fire safety regulations for large residential buildings. One door for every floor leading to the escape stairs was the solution, 47 doors in total.
The intelligent design of Teckentrup’s modular steel doors means that they can be adapted to suit the necessary regulations and performance requirements without compromising on design aesthetics - exactly what the New Victoria project was looking for. Teckentrup’s approach is exemplified by its insulated fire doors used in this project and the opportunity they provide for architects to specify a commercially competitive, integrity and insulation fire performance.
Each door was supplied in grey to compliment the buildings interiors and fitted with a full-length vision panel. Certified to EN1634-1 and achieving 60-minute integrity and insulation fire protection, every door is fully certified, compliant with C5 durability.
Enter ABC engineers! With experience working on large scale projects, ABC knows that fitting into a carefully managed schedule of work is the key to success. Work on distributing and installing the doors on each level needed to commence before the commissioning of the lifts but after the completion of internal environment. ABC’s FIRAS trained engineers carefully managed the messy process of grouting each door frame in the carpeted and painted apartment access corridors and got their steps in distributing the doors via the stairs!
